ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A portion of Interstate 4 was closed on Monday afternoon due to a box truck overturning on the roadway, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.
In a release, troopers said the crash happened in the eastbound lanes of I-4 near State Road 528 around 4 p.m.
“It seems there may be two distinct accidents at this site,” an FHP spokesperson informed News 6. “Initial evidence indicates that there were five individuals transported to local hospitals. One of the vehicles involved is a semi that flipped over.”
Following the crash, the nearby section of I-4 was shut off from traffic.
As a result, troopers announced that eastbound traffic would be diverted off at Exit 72 to SR-528.
Detoured drivers are instead urged to head east along SR-528 and take Exit 1 onto International Drive.
From this point, drivers can make a right onto northbound International Drive, then a left onto westbound Sand Lake Road, and proceed to the I-4 eastbound on-ramp.
No additional information about the crash has been provided at this time.
