2 Arrested After Pregnant Woman Found Dead in Plastic Tote on Roadside

Two men from Ohio have been accused in relation to the death of a pregnant woman, whose remains were discovered in a sealed plastic tote in a rural area of Montgomery County last month.

Ricky Sheppard, aged 47, and James Rothenbusch, 52, have been charged with tampering with evidence and gross abuse of a corpse, according to a report by WOIO. Additionally, the grand jury has charged Rothenbusch with failing to report a death and two drug-related offenses.

The remains of Brittany Fuhr-Storms, 28, were discovered on a rural roadside on August 3, as noted by CrimeOnline. Her body was enclosed with towels and tarps inside the tote, which was secured with wood screws.

Although Sheppard and Rothenbusch haven’t been charged with Fuhr-Storms’ death at this time, the case remains under investigation, according to WOIO. The coroner’s office has yet to confirm the cause and manner of death.

The pair reportedly said that they kept the woman’s body in the shower at Rotherbusch’s apartment for nearly a week before dumping it.

Investigators found that towels found at the suspects’ apartment matched those found with Fuhr-Storms’ body, and they also discovered suspected blood stains on the carpet, a blue tarp, and wood screws, according to a search warrant.

The two remain behind bars with a court appearance set for next month.
