A 42-year-old Illinois woman was arrested after allegedly calling 911 “on herself” while driving home intoxicated in the wrong direction. Authorities also say she repeatedly made sexual comments and inappropriate physical advances toward a state trooper.
Meisha Thomas was taken into custody over the weekend and faces one count each of battery against a public safety official and reckless driving, along with two counts of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, according to authorities.
In a press release, the Indiana State Police said Thomas called 911 “on herself” at about 1:36 a.m. Sunday. Dispatchers described her as sounding “highly intoxicated” and providing erratic information. Police tracked the cellphone signal and determined she was traveling south on Interstate 65 near mile marker 240.
A trooper located the vehicle after it crossed into Jasper County. Police said it was traveling between 30 and 50 mph in a 70-mph zone, swerving between lanes, blocking traffic and forcing other motorists to brake or take evasive action.
The trooper activated the emergency lights and attempted to stop the vehicle, but it initially continued down the highway before coming to a halt in the left lane of I-65. When the trooper approached, Thomas allegedly displayed slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, poor coordination and a strong odor of alcohol.

Thomas allegedly told the trooper that she had recently left a casino in Gary, Indiana, and was driving to her home in Chicago. Authorities said she had traveled approximately 36 miles in the wrong direction.
The trooper determined that Thomas could not safely complete a field sobriety test. She also refused to comply with Indiana’s implied consent law, prompting investigators to obtain a search warrant for a blood draw at a nearby hospital.
Police also accused Thomas of making repeated unwanted sexual advances toward the trooper.
“Throughout the encounter, Thomas made repeated inappropriate sexual comments and physical advances toward the arresting trooper, including attempting to kiss him while he was securing her in a seat belt,” the release states. “Despite being instructed multiple times to stop, Thomas continued making kissing gestures, sounds, and suggestive remarks. As a result of one of the incidents, she was additionally charged with battery against a public safety official.”
Thomas was booked into the Jasper County Jail. It was not immediately known when she was scheduled to appear in court.
