A North Texas resident was recently taken into custody for allegedly discharging a firearm after claiming another individual gave him a disagreeable look during a Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers football game, which concluded in a 40-40 tie on Sunday.

David Callum, 53, faces charges of two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of possessing a prohibited weapon, as reported by the North Richland Hills Police Department.

The charges are related to an event at The Thirsty Turtle, a sports bar and grill located on Rufe Snow Drive in North Richland Hills, a suburb within the extensive Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

On Sunday, just after 10 p.m., officers were called in response to multiple shots fired, police said in an initial press release.

“Officers were on the scene within minutes of the dispatch call, discovering that several patrons had already subdued the alleged shooter,” stated the police department on Monday.

No one was injured in the shooting, police added.

Callum was temporarily held at the North Richland Hills Joint Detention Center while awaiting the outcome of his charges. On Tuesday morning, he was presented before a judge, officially charged, and then moved to the Tarrant County Jail in downtown Fort Worth.

North Richland Hills authorities elaborated on the case against him in a second press release issued on Tuesday.

“Callum reportedly became agitated when he presumed another patron of the bar was looking at him while watching Sunday night’s game,” the latest press release reads. “An argument then began, at which time Callum produced a gun and fired off a round during the disturbance.”

Notably, the second press release suggests only one shot was fired on the night in question while the first press release suggests multiple shots were fired at the popular strip mall sports bar.

Police also did not say which team Callum was rooting for.

Law&Crime reached out to the North Richland Hills Police Department for additional details on this story but no response was immediately forthcoming at the time of publication.

The charges against Callum have not been formally docketed on the Tarrant County court system as of this writing.
