A 68-year-old Massachusetts man was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison after he pleaded guilty to the murder of his wife last year.

It was the second time Kenneth Robson had been convicted of killing a wife.

Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni stated that Robson called 911 early on April 30, 2024, claiming he required an ambulance because “he hit his wife with a hammer and she might be dead.”

Upon arrival, officers discovered 45-year-old Quitiza Holmes face down in a pool of blood, suffering from catastrophic head injuries and apparent defensive wounds. She was transported to a hospital, where she remained for over two weeks before succumbing to her injuries.

Forty-one years before this, Robson had been convicted for murdering his then-wife, Joan Cusson. Gulluni did not specify the duration of his incarceration or when he was released, only noting that Cusson’s family was outraged by his release “and the opportunity it afforded him to commit another violent act.”

“This was a brutal and senseless attack that claimed the life of Quitiza Holmes, a woman who should still be with her family and community today,” remarked Gulluni. “I want to extend my deepest condolences to her loved ones and express gratitude to the Springfield Police Department and our prosecutors for their role in holding this defendant accountable. With today’s sentence, he will spend the rest of his life in prison and will no longer have the chance to harm another person.”
