Everyone who refuses to denounce allies celebrating a cop-killer deserves disdain, so take note of the reactions after various left-leaning individuals praised the late Assata Shakur, also known as Joanne Chesimard. She was a convicted murderer of a New Jersey state trooper who found refuge for the past 50 years in Communist Cuba.
Look at the responses from the Democratic nominees for New York mayor and New Jersey governor: Zohran Mamdani is unwilling to rebuke the Democratic Socialists of America for their disturbing social media homage to Shakur, while Rep. Mikie Sherrill has remained conspicuously silent, even though current Democratic Governor Phil Murphy labeled the DSA tribute as “shameful and depraved.”

Moreover, it appears that Randi Weingarten, head of the American Federation of Teachers, is not reprimanding the union’s Chicago branch for honoring Shakur as a “respected elder of Black liberation.”
Randi’s too busy selling her Trump-is-a-fascist book.
On Instagram, Public Advocate Jumaane Williams referred to Shakur as a “Freedom Fighter and Human Rights Icon.” Bronx Assemblyman George Alvarez also paid homage, stating, “Her life was marked by struggle, resilience, and a relentless fight against oppression.”

There’s speculation that Mamdani might appoint former Rep. Jamal Bowman to lead New York City schools. Last year, Bowman defended his decision to honor the fugitive cop-killer on a “Wall of Honor” mural at a Bronx middle school when he headed the Cornerstone Academy for Social Action.
The Black Liberation Army, which Chesimard was part of, was a more extremist branch of the Black Panthers. This Marxist-Leninist group was involved in numerous bombings, the murders of police officers, bank heists, and even a skyjacking during the 1970s.
Bad enough that a few rappers and far-lefties romanticize such monsters; worse that Mamdani, Sherrill, Weingarten and so on pretend it’s OK to treat them as heroes.
At least they’re telling us who they really are.
