Chicago police officers faced a directive from their chief of patrol not to assist Border Patrol agents despite their call for help after being surrounded and boxed in following a ramming incident just outside the city. This was confirmed by several federal and local law enforcement sources to Fox News.

Fox News examined a dispatch message sent to Chicago police that was computer-aided. The message directed officers not to respond to the early Saturday occurrence when an armed woman was shot, and agents found themselves encircled and trapped.

The dispatch stated: “PLEASE CHIEF OF PATROL NO UNITS WILL RESPOND TO THIS AS RELATED FROM 04-Oc5-2025/12:34:44…CALLER IS 1 OF APPROX 30 ARMED PATROL AGENTS (ICE) WHO ARE BEING SURROUNDED BY A LARGE CROWD OF PEOPLE REQUESTING CPD.”

That morning, 10 vehicles rammed the federal agents in Broadview, a suburb of Chicago, where anti-ICE protesters had been assembling for days. The altercation resulted in almost a dozen arrests.

The ICE facility in Broadview has become a hot spot for ongoing protests. Fox News observed over a dozen demonstrators being detained near the premises on Friday.

Tensions heightened as Illinois Governor JB Pritzker released several statements on social media, criticizing the Trump administration and federal law enforcement for what he described as “unprecedented escalations of aggression against Illinois citizens and residents.”

Earlier this month, ICE launched Operation Midway Blitz, describing the operation as one that “will target the criminal illegal aliens who flocked to Chicago and Illinois because they knew Governor Pritzker and his sanctuary policies would protect them and allow them to roam free on American streets.”
