Girls Code Savannah offering free coding classes

SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Girls Code Savannah is hosting its free fall sessions on coding, open to students in the Savannah-Chatham County area.

In collaboration with Live Oak Public Libraries, Girls Code Savannah is offering four free in-person courses for girls in 5th to 10th grade attending Savannah-Chatham County public schools, as well as home-schooled students.

These sessions will teach girls about coding, technology and the use of artificial intelligence.

What is coding?

Humans and computers communicate differently, so to instruct a computer on tasks, like creating a website or developing a mobile app, one must understand coding languages such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Python, and others.

In recent years, coding has become a skill acquired by many, expanding its presence across various sectors. This highly sought-after expertise is a vital asset in numerous professional fields. As artificial intelligence continues to grow, mastering these skills could enhance future job prospects significantly.

How to register?

The sessions begin on Oct. 11 and will run every Saturday until Nov. 1. Each session will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
