BRISTOL, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Bristol, Tennessee City Council unanimously approved a two-year moratorium on data processing centers in the city.

City officials say the ordinance will give them time to figure out the best way to regulate such facilities.

“If we resolve things before the two years are up or need a slight extension, we can address it then,” Councilmember Margaret Feierabend stated.

The ordinance will go into effect in 17 days.

In June, the Johnson City Commission enacted a one-year moratorium on data centers. Meanwhile, in September, a proposal aiming to establish a moratorium in Johnson County did not pass.
