Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Bre’shaun Jacedrick Harrison, 18, has been charged as an adult with stealing a handgun from a vehicle when he was 16.

Harrison was initially apprehended on March 10, when he was 17, for armed robbery; he was subsequently charged as an adult in that case and transferred to an adult jail on March 31. He celebrated his 18th birthday on April 3. On April 17, Judge Denise Ferrero ordered that he be held without bail until his trial.

On April 28, detectives from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office interviewed Harrison at the jail regarding five vehicle burglaries that took place at Cricket Club (501 SW 75th St.) overnight from March 14 to March 15, 2024. They informed him that his palm print had been discovered on one of the burglarized vehicles. Harrison reportedly confessed to taking a handgun from one of the vehicles but mentioned he couldn’t recall from which one it was taken. He stated that he had sold the handgun immediately to an unknown person in Cedar Ridge for $120.

Harrison faces charges of vehicle burglary and grand theft of a firearm. His juvenile record includes convictions between 2019 and 2025 for crimes such as burglary of an occupied dwelling, grand theft of a motor vehicle, and resisting an officer without violence. Judge Meshon Rawls has set bail at $50,000 for the new charges; however, Harrison will remain held without bail until the armed robbery case is concluded.

Articles about arrests are based on information supplied by law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are solely accusations. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
