GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A 14-year-old from Ocala, Lynden Armon Maysonet, is facing adult charges for armed robbery and aggravated battery following an incident on July 30, where a resident at the Crossing at Santa Fe Apartments was assaulted with a firearm.

Around 8 p.m. on that day, deputies from Alachua County responded to a call at the Crossing at Santa Fe Apartments, located at 3205 NW 83rd Street. At the scene, they noticed bloodstains near two apartment entrances. With the apartment resident’s permission, officers searched inside and detected the scent of burnt marijuana, as well as discovering excessive blood, including two bloody handprints on the carpet. They located the resident’s phone beneath an overturned chair after hearing it ring. A nearby suitcase contained a large baggie of marijuana, and scattered throughout the apartment were loose marijuana, unrolled blunts, baggies, and scales.

When deputies interviewed the victim at the hospital, he explained being attacked by three males who were staying as guests in his apartment. He identified two of them as his roommate’s cousins, and he knew the third as “Greenlight Sammy.” The juveniles were referred to as “Landon or LA” and “Spook.”

According to the victim, Greenlight Sammy initiated the attack, and when he retaliated, the other two joined in; it was believed he had a substantial sum of cash and marijuana in his safe. The victim reported that all three were carrying firearms, and upon his attempt to seize Greenlight Sammy’s gun, one accomplice suggested shooting him. Consequently, the victim ceased resisting and was then beaten with the pistols.

The perpetrators left the victim on the floor, taking his safe, approximately $40, and a cell phone. The victim informed deputies of an AirTag in the safe and guided them on how to track it using the phone discovered under the chair. The AirTag was eventually found on the side of I-75, just north of Ocala, suggesting that the suspects located it and discarded it from their vehicle, though the safe remained missing.

On July 31, deputies found out that the juveniles were indeed cousins of the victim’s roommate and had resided in the apartment for the last ten days. The roommate admitted he was unaware of his cousins’ last names, only that they were evading authorities in Marion County, not knowing the reasons for their flight.

Detectives determined that “Greenlight Sammy” is Jaishun Mikal Darrien Turner, 24, of Reddick; “Landon” is Maysonet; and “Spook” is Kameryn Nehemiah Copeland, 16, of Marion County. The victim reportedly picked all three out of photo line-ups.

On August 1, an officer from the Marion County Department of Juvenile Justice called Alachua County Sheriff’s Office to report that Maysonet and Copeland had cut off their ankle monitors and were believed to be staying with the victim’s roommate.

All three suspects have been charged with armed robbery and aggravated battery. Turner has been booked into the Alachua County Jail and is being held without bail until trial. Maysonet has a juvenile conviction. Judge Jonathan Ramsey ordered him held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s office to hold him without bail until trial; if the judge denies the motion, bail will be set at that hearing.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
