JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Johnson City Brewing Company celebrated the grand opening of its West Walnut Street taproom on Saturday.

Eric Latham, owner of Johnson City Brewing Company, said his crew “finally made it” and that the taproom is “finally open” at 714 W Walnut St.

“In March, we made a purchase,” he stated. “Now, six months later, we have successfully opened thanks to the incredible efforts of our staff. Our co-owners, community, and business partners played a crucial role in making it all happen, and we are truly grateful for their support.”

Latham said he and his wife, Kat, wanted to be a part of the newly renovated Walnut Street.

“There’s a lot of great stuff that’s happening here and a lot of great stuff yet to happen,” he said. “But we just wanted to be a part of it.”

He told News Channel 11 about what the taproom has in store for guests.

“Currently, we’re rolling out a variety of fall beers, with the well-known Oktoberfest style leading the lineup. Our version is a Marzen-style lager,” Latham explained. “Additionally, we’ve crafted two unique variants — a butterscotch and a salted pretzel version. Both have gained popularity, and we enjoy experimenting with new flavors to offer something customers haven’t tried before.”

According to Latham, Johnson City Brewing Company has been operating in the Tri-Cities for 11 years and has outlined “big plans” in their business strategy for the next decade.

“It’s wonderful seeing familiar faces; sustaining a business for 11 years means people keep returning,” he remarked. “A community isn’t built on just one interaction. It grows stronger through consistent connections, which is quite remarkable to witness.”

Latham announced that the company will celebrate its 11th anniversary on October 25 at its original Boones Creek location. The Halloween-themed event will feature live music, fall-inspired beverages, and dishes prepared by Chef James Allen from The Blackthorn Club.
