Eric Trump is retiring from politics – maybe.

The first son opened up to the Daily Mail about his decision to step away from politics after a tumultuous decade campaigning for his father and revealed how he thinks his siblings will fit into the Trump puzzle in coming years.

For the last two years, Eric entered his author era with the writing of Under Siege: My Family’s Fight to Save Our Nation, which he explained was a ‘cathartic’ process.

The memoir, which hits shelves on Tuesday, includes new details about the death of the original Trump matriarch Ivana and more than 100 photos never seen before by the public.

Eric recalled to the Daily Mail in a sit-down interview this month how the day after the 2024 election he told his father he was stepping back from politics to focus on the Trump Organization and his family.

But it doesn’t appear to be a permanent retirement – and Eric detailed that any of his siblings could end up back in the political limelight in no time.

It appears the memoir will help usher in a new chapter of life for Eric.

‘We came down the famous golden escalator, and I was on that stage every single second for a 10, 11, 12-year period of time,’ the president’s middle son said in an interview discussing his first book. ‘I did thousands of events. I mean, I’ve stood on every tractor in the country with a bull horn, every church in the country and every town in every one of those swing states.’

‘I love what he’s doing,’ Eric said of his father’s political mission, but added that ‘at some point I wanted to get back to work, I wanted to get back to my family, I wanted to get back to capitalism. I wanted to get back to the Trump Organization.’

The 41-year-old gave his insight into which Trump could be the heir to the current president’s political throne – and had some of the highest hopes for the youngest Trump child and ‘eligible bachelor’ Barron.

‘I think we’ve all developed great voices,’ he said of the five Trump kids.

‘I’d say Ivanka’s probably more measured in the way she approaches politics,’ Eric said of his older sister, adding that his older brother Donald Trump Jr., who has a podcast and engages in political and social commentary, has also ‘created his own amazing voice.’

‘Tiffany’s one of the most beautiful, nicest girls you’ve ever met,’ Eric said of his younger sister who is the only child who President Trump shares with second wife Marla Maples. And of the 19-year-old only child of First Lady Melania Trump, Eric said: ‘Barron’s young, but he already has a great following.’

‘People love him. He’s certainly one of the more eligible bachelors in this country. I tell him that all the time,’ Eric joked of the youngest Trump kid. ‘I think he’s going to develop into a great man – he’s a great young man already.’

‘So, who knows? I think if we put our mind to it, I think many of us in the family could do it,’ Eric said of the siblings’ future in running for office.

And of himself, he told the Daily Mail: ‘I’ve never left my father’s side… I’ve been there with him. And I think my voice has always been a very direct voice – a very honest, no BS voice.’

‘And in a certain way, I think that mirrors my father’s oftentimes,’ he added.

Eric admitted he could hit the campaign trail in the future or even run for office ‘only if it got so bad that I had no other choice’ than to step up to the plate.

On November 6, 2024 – the day after President Donald Trump won a second White House term – Eric recounted calling up his father and saying: ‘Pops, I love you to death but I’m retiring from politics.’

Eric said he doesn’t have a ‘huge desire’ to campaign for anyone that isn’t Donald Trump, which means he’s unlikely to hit the trail in the 2026 midterms.

‘At the same time,’ he caveated, ‘my heart’s in it because I love this nation.’

‘In some way, shape or form my heart will always be in the political fight,’ he added. ‘As to whether or not I’m actually going to be out there campaigning, I guess time will tell.’

Under Siege, Eric says, will detail to people the attacks that his family, company and country faced after his father first became president in 2016.

He will also share more personal, behind-the-scenes moments from his life.

‘I never thought I’d be an author,’ Eric admitted, adding: ‘I have to say it was a cathartic process.’

‘I’m a developer,’ the Trump Organization executive vice president said. ‘I’m a guy who loves steel and concrete and yet it was cathartic as hell.’

Eric says his book will get into the death of his mother, something he’s not spoken on much publicly since she passed on July 14, 2022 after sustaining injuries to her torso when she fell down stairs in her Manhattan home.

‘I get into some pretty sentimental stuff about my mom’s death. Finding her, cleaning up the mess in the aftermath, both literally and figuratively. I’ve never shared any of those stories publicly and it was hard to put down on paper,’ said an introspective Eric.

‘I’m at the point in my life where there’s no subject that’s off limits,’ he went on. ‘I don’t cowtail, I don’t mince words. If it was in my heart it was in the pages of this book. There’s nothing I held back.’

‘I think there’s going to be some people who have their feathers ruffled, and that’s fine. After what they put us through they deserve to have their feathers ruffled,’ Eric concluded.
