In Ottawa, Ontario, the New York Islanders clinched a thrilling 5-4 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday, thanks to pivotal third-period goals from Anders Lee and Kyle Palmieri.

Adding to the Islanders’ success were Bo Horvat, Max Shabanov, and Emil Heineman, each finding the back of the net to secure the team’s second straight win. Lee also contributed two assists, while Ilya Sorokin made 29 saves to hold off the Senators’ offensive efforts.

For Ottawa, Tim Stutzle made his mark with a goal and an assist, as the team fell to a 1-1 record during their four-game home series. Shane Pinto notched his seventh goal of the season, supported by Linus Ullmark’s 18 saves in net.

David Perron initially gave the Senators a lead with a power-play goal late in the first period, and Dylan Cozens extended Ottawa’s advantage to 4-3 with a goal just before the second period ended.

However, the Islanders rallied in the third period. Mathew Barzal assisted Palmieri’s equalizing goal six minutes in, and Lee secured the win with a decisive goal just over a minute before the final buzzer, marking his first of the season.

Highlighting the game was Islanders defenseman Matthew Schaefer, this year’s top NHL draft pick, who assisted on Shabanov’s second-period goal. Schaefer is currently enjoying a five-game point streak, amassing one goal and four assists.
