As the government shutdown stretches into its third week, President Donald Trump has intensified efforts to bring it to a conclusion.

During a luncheon with Republican lawmakers in the Rose Garden on Tuesday, Trump pointed fingers at Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Democratic senators, labeling the ongoing shutdown as “a craven act of partisan spite.” He emphasized that Republican senators have cast 11 votes in favor of reopening the government.

“Democrats are creating setbacks in our air traffic control, leaving over a million federal employees without pay, and preventing children from enjoying our museums,” Trump remarked. “I urge them to be sensible. Their strategy is failing. They’re suffering in the polls.”
