In a chilling incident on Long Island, a man has been charged with attempted murder following a brutal attack on a family member in Amityville. The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office disclosed that Angelo Andrade, aged 49, is accused of slashing the neck of a relative during an altercation at a Jefferson Avenue residence on September 21.

The violent episode reportedly occurred amidst what began as a conversation between Andrade and the 45-year-old victim. According to prosecutors, Andrade suddenly attacked, seizing the victim from behind and inflicting a deep cut to his neck, which resulted in severe bleeding.

The terrifying ordeal didn’t end there. Andrade allegedly turned his aggression towards another family member, a woman residing in the same household. Authorities report that he held her at knifepoint, issuing threats of further harm.

In a desperate bid for safety, both victims managed to flee their home and alert the police. Law enforcement officers swiftly apprehended Andrade in the vicinity, averting any further violence.

The slashing victim was rushed to Good Samaritan University Hospital located in West Islip. Although he sustained serious injuries, they were not life-threatening. The severity of the wound necessitated a blood transfusion due to significant blood loss.

The slashing victim was taken to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators said he lost “so much blood” in the attack that he needed a blood transfusion.

“These alleged acts of violence could have easily resulted in death,” Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney said Wednesday. “We take all acts of violence seriously and will prosecute vigorously.”

Andrade was arraigned on Tuesday in Suffolk County Court on charges of attempted murder, assault, false imprisonment and menacing, court records show. He was held on $750,000 bond and is expected back in court on Nov. 13.

He faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted on the top count.
