ORLANDO, Fla. – Today, we’re taking a drive through Central Florida with Results-1 to revisit a crucial aspect of road safety that often goes overlooked by many drivers.

We received an intriguing inquiry from a viewer named Tammy, who asked, “When a driver intends to turn left at a green light, and simultaneously, another driver from the opposite direction has a green light to make a right turn, who holds the right of way?”

This scenario is a regular occurrence at intersections all over Central Florida. However, it can quickly escalate into a hazardous situation when drivers rely on assumptions rather than adhering to traffic regulations.

Although both drivers are facing a green light, this doesn’t automatically grant them the liberty to proceed simultaneously. The focal point in this situation is the concept of yielding. Yielding the right of way involves allowing the other driver to move ahead first when their paths intersect. Unfortunately, impatience or a misunderstanding of the laws often leads to potential conflicts on the road.

Today, we’re dialing back to the basics. We’ll clarify what it truly means to yield, determine who should yield in this particular scenario, and demonstrate how a brief pause can avert a significant collision.

Join us live as we navigate through this frequent intersection dilemma and strive to enhance the safety of our roads, one driver at a time.
