LOS ANGELES — The Irwin family recently shared their excitement with On The Red Carpet, as Terri Irwin expressed her pride in her children’s achievements on “Dancing with the Stars.”
“I’ve got a good feeling, but you never really know how things will turn out,” Terri shared. “When Bindi competed, I was unsure of what to expect, but she worked incredibly hard, and Derek was fantastic.”
Bindi Irwin clinched the title in the 21st season of “Dancing with the Stars,” alongside her partner, Derek Hough. At just 17, she was among the youngest champions in the show’s history.
A decade later, Robert Irwin has taken up the challenge, competing for the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy with professional dancer Witney Carson.
“Wherever I go, my mom’s always reminding people to text votes for me,” Robert joked. “I’m like, ‘Mum! Can we just have a normal conversation?'”
Terri Irwin praised her son’s journey this season, saying, “Robert and Witney make a fantastic team. They’re experimenting with new things, and he’s putting in so much effort. I’m incredibly proud.”
And Robert Irwin was all-in from the get-go.
“Like, name another opportunity where you get to have this three-month crash course, learning from the best in the world, a new craft. And you’re putting your body on the line to tell stories through dance. It’s such a profound and amazing thing to be part of, truly,” he said.
“Dancing with the Stars” airs Tuesdays on ABC and streams next day on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of ABC, Hulu, Disney+ and this ABC station.
