New CCTV has been released as police continue to investigate the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Athan Boursinos in Melbourne earlier this year.

A tragic incident unfolded on Champions Parade in Wollert, when Boursinos was fatally shot outside his family’s home just before 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 31. Authorities suspect this was a deliberate attack.

The 21-year-old reportedly confronted his assailants with the challenge, “Do it,” before being struck by multiple gunshots.

Police have now disclosed that they suspect the murder was orchestrated by a crime syndicate operating out of New South Wales. They believe the perpetrators journeyed to Melbourne from NSW days prior to the incident.

“Our intelligence indicates that these individuals traveled from New South Wales before Athan’s murder, implying a connection to organized criminal groups based there,” stated Detective Acting Superintendent Mark Hatt.

“While we continue to investigate potential motives, we are pursuing several lines of inquiry. Athan’s ties to organized crime introduce a layer of complexity to our investigation.”

Police have released new CCTV of two males they believe were involved in the killing. (9News)

Authorities suspect the involvement of two men and a white Volkswagen SUV, both captured on CCTV, in relation to the murder.

Boursinos’s killers fled the scene in a waiting Nissan Patrol, which was found burnt out on Amery Street in Reservoir at about 9.15am.

The Patrol had been stolen from a Reservoir address in June.

The group of men then got into a grey Volkswagen Golf that had been previously stolen from a Hampton East address in March.

The Golf was found burnt out on Rosehill Boulevard in Mickleham about two hours later.

Police believe the men then got into a waiting silver BMW sedan.

Boursinos was facing charges over alleged drug and weapon offences at the time, and was believed to be a suspect in the shooting of gangland figure Sam “The Punisher” Abdulrahim in January.

But after his death his family said he had been cleaning up his life and had turned to God.
