Two Wisconsin men are awaiting sentencing after authorities said they stabbed their roommate during a dispute that began over household chores and the thermostat.
Fernando Alejo-Tiburcio, 21, and Alberto Castillo-Serrano, 22, each entered no contest pleas to first-degree recklessly endangering safety, aggravated battery intending great bodily harm, and substantial battery, according to court records reviewed by Law&Crime. Prosecutors dropped an attempted first-degree intentional homicide charge against both men.

When police responded to the residence, they reported finding blood, tools, and a bloody knife inside the home. Alejo-Tiburcio and Castillo-Serrano were located in a barricaded bedroom before being taken into custody.
Castillo-Serrano is scheduled to learn his sentence on Sept. 2, while Alejo-Tiburcio’s sentencing is set for Sept. 23.
