An incoming Democratic representative from Arizona finds herself in a state of uncertainty due to the ongoing government shutdown.
Adelita Grijalva shared her challenges on “Elizabeth Vargas Reports” on Monday, stating, “A major issue is the absence of a budget. I lack the authority, privileges, and responsibilities of a fully sworn-in member of Congress.”
Grijalva secured her position in a special election two months ago, succeeding her late father, the long-serving U.S. Rep. Raúl Grijalva. Despite her victory, she remains unable to fulfill her duties and represent the 800,000 constituents in her district because Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson has yet to swear her in.
