In a recent court ruling, a Texas daycare worker received a ten-year prison sentence following shocking revelations of abuse captured on surveillance footage. Catherine Guziejka, aged 45, was caught on video committing over 100 acts of violence against children entrusted to her care.
Guziejka admitted guilt in September to six counts of child injury, a fact highlighted in reports by CrimeOnline. She has been sentenced to serve ten years for each charge, but these will run concurrently, as reported by KLTV.
The disturbing investigation was sparked a year prior when a fellow employee at Punkin’ Doodles Day Care in Lindale reviewed security footage. The footage revealed Guziejka kicking a 2-year-old boy in the lower back, prompting immediate concern. The coworker promptly informed the boy’s father, who in turn alerted the authorities.
Upon reviewing the footage, a deputy discovered numerous similar episodes. Each instance showed Guziejka delivering quick kicks to the children’s backs, causing them to cry in pain. All the victims were under the age of two, with the abuses occurring from July to October 2024, leading up to Guziejka’s arrest.
The affidavit detailed further abuses, including Guziejka kicking children while they watched television, aggressively repositioning them during sleep, and roughly handling them by dragging them to a changing table.
Following the disclosure of these appalling actions, Guziejka was immediately dismissed from her position. Additionally, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services has prohibited her from employment in any facility caring for vulnerable individuals, including hospitals, daycares, and nursing homes.
