A recent post on social media platform X has sparked widespread speculation after Donald Trump’s foreign envoy seemingly disclosed the source of a leaked peace proposal aimed at resolving the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

In response to an Axios article discussing clandestine negotiations between the US and Russia, Steve Witkoff commented, “He must have gotten this from K.” This statement quickly led to a flurry of guesses about the identity of “K.”

Among the most prominent theories is that “K” refers to Kirill Dmitriev, a notable Russian official featured extensively in the report. Some also speculated that it could be Jared Kushner.

However, two individuals familiar with the matter informed the Daily Mail that Witkoff does not typically refer to Kushner as “K,” thereby focusing suspicion on the Russian envoy.

This apparent misstep raises the possibility that Russia might be intentionally leaking details of these confidential discussions.

The gaffe suggests Russia may be deliberately leaking details of the sensitive negotiations.

Two diplomats, speaking anonymously, claimed to the Daily Mail that they believe the White House intended for the information to leak, hoping to reinforce the narrative that Trump is actively working behind the scenes to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

‘It’s fine if it actually produces some results, but the bottom line is that Putin will never give up his goal, even if he tries to appear to participate in some ‘deal,’ a former diplomat to Europe told Daily Mail.

The leak revealed that the White House has been working in the background to hash out a new 28-point peace plan with Russia, hoping to deliver on the president’s campaign promise to end the war with Ukraine, a source familiar with diplomatic conversations confirmed to the Daily Mail.

Responding beneath a report by journalist Barak David about the US quietly drafting a new plan to end the war in Ukraine, Witkoff wrote: 'He must have gotten this from K'

Trump enacted a 20-point peace plan in Gaza that succeeded.

Plans for territorial control in eastern Ukraine are still unclear.

As part of those peace talks, the Pentagon US delegation is also paying a visit to Kyiv on Wednesday.

Army secretary Dan Driscoll along with other senior brass are on a ‘fact finding mission to meet with Ukrainian officials and discuss efforts to end the war,’ an army spokesperson said in a statement.

Traveling alongside Driscoll to Kyiv are reportedly Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George, Sergeant Major of the Army Michael Weimer and Gen. Chris Donahue.

CNN reporting that Driscoll planned to talk with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about conditions on the battlefield as well as military needs and peace efforts.

When questioned about the matter, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that there are ‘no new developments to report at this time’ concerning an end to the war.

Meanwhile, in Washington, Republicans are attempting to move forward with a bill backed by Senator Lindsey Graham that would effectively sanction Russia.

The legislation grants the president authority to impose secondary sanctions and tariffs on countries that continue purchasing discounted Russian oil and gas.

Countries like Iran could also be added to the list.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment, nor did Witkoff’s team.
