On Wednesday, Meghan Markle appeared on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar for its December 2025/January 2026 issue. Observers have noted that some of her poses and outfits in the photoshoot evoke memories of Princess Diana.
The Duchess of Sussex, a mother of two, showcased a variety of looks for the magazine. Among them was a striking sleeveless red dress with a dramatic cape elegantly draped over one shoulder.
Gracing the cover, Meghan donned a low-cut black silk blazer tied at the waist. The cover’s headline boldly stated, ‘Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, Meets Her Moment.’
Additional black-and-white images featured Meghan sitting cross-legged on the floor, dressed casually in a button-down shirt and jeans, while barefoot. Another photograph captured her reclining on a boucle armchair, wearing an off-the-shoulder silk gown.
Some Reddit users have pointed out resemblances between Meghan’s photos and those of Princess Diana from past magazine features, even posting side-by-side comparisons on the platform.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, some of Meghan’s admirers echoed this sentiment, commenting that the images exuded a similar vibe and energy to Diana’s iconic shots.
Princess Diana posed for Vogue’s October 1997 issue in a red, halter-neck dress that looked similar to the one that Meghan wore in Harper’s Bazaar.
Another picture that looked similar to one of Meghan’s saw Princess Diana in her final photo spread in Vanity Fair in July 1997, titled, ‘Diana Reborn,’ where she is sitting cross-legged in black jeans and a white turtleneck.

Similarly, in the 1997 Vanity Fair story, Princess Diana was captured lying on a cream couch, staring into the camera, just as Meghan did for this recent shoot.
It is unknown how much involvement Meghan had in the creative direction of her shoot.

Many fans pointed this out on Reddit and X, as they noticed the apparent similarities between the photos.
‘Oh my God. I gasped when I saw this,’ one person wrote on Reddit.
Someone else typed, ‘Oh damn.’
‘This is too weird,’ another commented.
Interestingly enough, this is not the first time that Meghan’s style has drawn comparisons to Princess Diana’s.

The dress, designed by Catherine Walker, was selected by Diana for a Gala performance by the Royal Ballet at the Berlin Opera House.
This look appeared to be a source of inspiration for Meghan’s Trooping the Color ensemble in 2018, when she wore a light pink Carolina Herrera dress with a similar neckline and button detailing.
And, in 2024, Meghan wore a strappy red gown by Carolina Herrera to attend the LA Children’s Hospital Gala, channeling a similar look worn by Princess Diana in 1995 to a dinner party in Argentina.
