In a surprising turn of events, Marjorie Taylor Greene’s recent resignation from Congress has garnered heartfelt tributes from her daughter and her journalist partner. The Georgia Republican made headlines when she announced her decision to step down in January, following a turbulent week marked by a very public fallout with her longtime political ally, Donald Trump.

Greene’s partner, Brian Glenn, a staunch supporter of the MAGA movement and a journalist with Real America’s Voice, was quick to express his admiration and support for her decision. “You never allowed the political industrial complex to break you. No one fought for America harder than you,” Glenn stated, underscoring his unwavering belief in her dedication.

Adding to the chorus of support, Greene’s 27-year-old daughter, Lauren Greene Sanders, echoed similar sentiments. Proudly standing by her mother, Sanders remarked, “One of a kind Congresswoman. Forever will be so proud of my mom. 110% on America First, American Only.”

The departure of Greene, a prominent figure within the Republican Party, marks a significant moment, especially given her outspoken approach and steadfast commitment to her political ideals. Glenn, the chief White House correspondent for the pro-Trump outlet, was dragged into the MAGA meltdown for declaring his love for his girlfriend online after she first clashed with the president.

‘I love this woman. I love this country. God bless America,’ he wrote on Saturday night with four loved-up photos of the couple together. 

He even returned fire on criticism from MAGA personality Laura Loomer by replying ‘Shut up b***h’ with a laughing emoji.

Glenn left his then-wife Kerry just three days after Greene’s then-husband Perry filed for divorce in September 2022.

He insisted at the time they were not an item and the two divorce filings were not connected, but by early 2023 they were openly dating.

Glenn has been a huge Trump fan since the beginning and was one of numerous far-right niche outlets, bloggers, and social media provocateurs added to the White House press pool after Trump was sworn in.

‘We’re witnessing the greatest political movement in US history. All in,’ he wrote last year next to a photo of himself with Greene, Trump, and JD Vance. 

Other than being Greene’s boyfriend, Glenn is best known for asking Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky why he wasn’t wearing a suit during the notorious Oval Office meeting in February.

Trump once poked fun at Glenn at a press event in July over how outspoken his girlfriend was.

Walking with Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, the president introduced the pair to Glenn. 

‘Hi Brian,’ Trump greets the reporter. ‘This is the boyfriend, very lucky, of Marjorie Taylor Greene,’ the president told Noem and DeSantis. 

‘Do you think it’s easy being with Marjorie?’ Trump asked DeSantis with a smile. 

Noem responded by noting a video of MTG doing a crossfit workout with her daughter. ‘She was working out pretty hard this weekend,’ she told Glenn before following the president into another room. 

‘I’m not going to answer that… kidding!!’ Glenn later wrote in response to Trump’s question.

Greene Sanders, an aspiring social media star with a combined 48,000 followers on Instagram and X, also had her mother’s back.

When one user on Elon Musk’s platform referred to her mother as ‘Marjorie Traitor Greene,’ Sanders immediately fired back.

‘Funny how you have MAGA in your bio and MAGA means “Make America Great Again,” yet here you are calling her a traitor, even though she [is] one of the real one[s] who are actually trying to make America great again by unapologetically fighting for us, the American citizens, by being America First,’ Sanders wrote.

‘Put your ego in your closet, we need to stop fighting with each other,’ she urged. ‘Unless you’re a fake MAGA.’

Sanders also denied Trump’s assertion that her mother is becoming more liberal, following an appearance on The View. 

She has also used her platform to ask the public for prayers for her mother’s safety, after Greene claimed she is receiving death threats.

The 27-year-old announced her public online presence in a Facebook post in March, along with a photo of her, her mother, Trump and Vice President JD Vance.

‘Hi friends and patriots!’ she wrote at the time. ‘I recently decided to take a leap and go public on social media! I’ll be sharing my life, thoughts and experiences – everything from faith and patriotism to creativity and everyday moments.

‘Excited to connect with like-minded people,’ Sanders wrote.

Greene will likely need her family in her corner following her resignation.

In a lengthy statement and 10-minute video, she branded the president ‘hateful’ over his decision to retract his endorsement of her, a move which saw him dismiss Greene as a ‘ranting lunatic’.

The Georgia lawmaker cited a growing disgust with the political establishment in Washington and her fight for the release of the so-called Epstein files which formed the brunt of her feud with Trump.

She raged against the ‘political industrial complex’ which she claimed uses Americans as ‘pawns in an endless game of division’.

Greene said that it would be unfair for her ‘sweet little district’ to ‘endure a hurtful and hateful primary against me by the President we all fought for’ and even added that ‘Republicans will likely lose the midterms’.

Greene went on to claim she has ‘always been despised in Washington, DC, and just never fit in’.

The Republican also said that she was leaving to spend more time with her family amid constant death threats she claimed she received in the wake of her clash with with the president.

She said her last day would be January 5, 2026.

Greene expressed profound frustration with her own party’s inability to get anything done despite controlling the presidency and both houses of Congress in 2025. 

‘Almost one year into our majority, the legislature has been mostly sidelined, we endured an eight week shutdown wrongly resulting in the House not working for the entire time, and we are entering campaign season which means all courage leaves and only safe campaign re-election mode is turned on,’ she said.

It comes just one week after a back and forth with Trump over social media caused a schism in the MAGA base. 

Greene and Trump traded social media barbs on Friday, with Greene sharing screenshots of texts she sent to Trump about the Epstein files.

In her resignation statement, Greene expressed disgust after, ‘standing up for American women who were raped at 14, trafficked and used by rich powerful men, should not result in me being called a traitor and threatened by the President of the United States, whom I fought for’.

The heart of her feud with the president was his failure over his major campaign promise to release the Epstein files.

The pledge became rallying cry for Greene and other Republican rebels on Capitol Hill, a fallout that came to a head on Friday as the pair traded vicious jabs on social media.

The president – who has long said he cut Epstein off decades ago and did nothing wrong – explosively announced he was ‘unendorsing’ the Georgia Republican, accusing her of becoming ‘left wing’.

But for Greene, the issue is bigger than Trump – it’s about ‘America First’, a central MAGA tenet.
