In a dramatic twist involving reality TV star Garrick Merrifield, known for his appearance on TLC’s “Seeking Sister Wife,” allegations have surfaced that he threatened to call U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on his own wife, Lorrana. This revelation came to light shortly before Merrifield’s unexpected arrest earlier this week, as reported by TMZ.

The incident unfolded in Chaffee County, Colorado, where Merrifield was taken into custody. He faces a charge of telephone obstruction of service but has since been released on bond.

According to an affidavit obtained by TMZ, the altercation between Garrick and Lorrana, who hails from Brazil, escalated when Garrick allegedly warned Lorrana that he would report her to ICE. This threat reportedly occurred during a heated argument between the couple.

Lorrana informed law enforcement that during the argument, Garrick confiscated her phone and refused to return it, preventing her from contacting her family. When she expressed her intention to call the police, Garrick allegedly withheld her phone and further threatened to involve immigration authorities.

Lorrana had told law enforcement that at one point during the heated argument, her husband took her phone away while also refusing to let her have it back so she could make a call to her family, according to the documents. 

When she told Garrick her intentions to reach out to the police, he allegedly would not give her phone back and then made the threat to call ICE. 

The Daily Mail has reached to Garrick for comment but did not immediately hear back.

While Lorrana is currently in the United States legally on a visa, she was still scared by the alleged threat due to not having knowledge of all the laws. 

She told police that she researched how to contact law enforcement – which she thinks Garrick found out about.

Lorrana believes this to be so because she claimed that he deactivated Wi-Fi on her devices. 

While Garrick’s wife did not want her husband to be arrested, he was still taken into custody on Monday, November 24. 

The arrest was reportedly made in Chaffee County, Colorado and a spokesperson for the Chaffee County Jail also told TMZ on Tuesday that Garrick has since bonded out of the facility.

The Daily Mail reached out to both Garrick at the time and reps for TLC’s parent company Warner Bros Discovery for further comment. 

With his plural marriage beliefs, Garrick is in a relationship with his ex-wife Danielle and legally married to wife Lorrana, a Brazil native who he recently celebrated his one-year wedding anniversary with.

Garrick and Danielle are not technically married, as they got divorced legally to enable him to marry more women to accommodate their lifestyle.

Danielle talked on the show about her feelings on the arrangement: ‘Maybe because Garrick and I have gone through so much in our marriage and considered really divorcing each other, that it like hits a point in my heart.’

Garrick and Danielle share three children together – teen sons Geremiah and Solomon and daughter Leia, two.

On July 3, Lorrana welcomed a daughter named Sarah Mae Merrifield with Garrick and Danielle, per People. 

‘I am so happy to see Sarah growing up alongside her siblings, creating bonds and receiving so much love from the whole family,’ Lorrana told the outlet. 

Lorrana also got candid about her pregnancy and expressed that she had been filled with a ‘mix of feelings and emotions’ with it being her first. 

She said of their newborn: ‘She is very smiley, always with a wide and cheerful smile when she sees each of us.’

Garrick told the publication of his newborn: ‘Baby Sarah is definitely a squeaker. She is loud. I wonder if she might be an opera singer someday. She’s got some lungs on her.’

Garrick said that ‘it is such a blessing that we had Sarah at this time, so Leia will grow up with her also.’
