Authorities in Georgia are on the lookout for a man who reportedly violated his bail conditions while facing serious allegations of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl in 2021.
Officials in DeKalb County revealed to WAGA that Travis Levy, 53, is currently wanted on an active warrant after he failed to attend a plea hearing in February. At the time of the alleged crime, Levy was on parole and later secured his release from jail in April 2022 by posting bond. He faces charges of rape, child molestation, and cruelty to children.
Court documents show that Levy was granted a $60,000 bond, although prosecutors had opposed this decision.
Prior to missing the February hearing, Levy is accused of visiting the victim’s school and paying another student for details about her location.
According to WAGA, Levy has familial ties to the victim. The family is particularly worried because of Levy’s profession in HVAC, which involves entering residential homes.
A family member of the victim expressed frustration, stating, “The only reason he got a bond is because he wasn’t indicted in time due to Covid,” during an interview with the news outlet.
The victim’s family said they are taking additional precautions as Levy’s whereabouts remain unknown.
The victim’s relative also told WAGA, “For him to be caught. I could just … the Christmas that we will have. It will be amazing. It will be amazing.”
