Tragedy struck an Arkansas family as a mother entangled in divorce proceedings was discovered deceased with her two children. The unsettling event surfaces amidst a backdrop of prior domestic violence.
The Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) reported receiving a welfare check request on a Wednesday morning, prompting officers to investigate a residence in Bonanza. Authorities, including local Bonanza police, responded to the call and reached the location on the 1100 block of 1st Avenue by 9:30 a.m.
Upon entry, officers encountered a grim scene: Charity Beallis, aged 40, along with her two children, all suffering from gunshot wounds. The SCSO statement confirmed that none of the victims survived the ordeal.
The bodies have been transported to the Arkansas Crime Lab, where autopsies will ascertain the definitive causes of death.
Charity Beallis initiated divorce proceedings against her husband, Dr. Randall Beallis, in March. This decision came shortly after Dr. Beallis faced arrest, accused of allegedly strangling Charity in an incident witnessed by their children, as reported by 5NEWS.
5NEWS also noted that the final divorce hearing between the estranged couple took place at the Sebastian County Courthouse in Fort Smith just a day before the heartbreaking discovery.
On Thursday, Dr. Beallis’s attorney filed a motion to dismiss the divorce case.
Charity was reportedly fighting for full custody of the couple’s twins, based on Dr. Beallis’s arrest for aggravated assault on a family member, third-degree domestic battery, and two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a minor.
Dr. Beallis reached an agreement and pleaded guilty to third-degree battery on October 9, 2025.
Charity told Senator Rice earlier this year that she feared for her and her children’s lives, 5NEWS reported.
KNWA reported that Randy Powell, Charity’s father, reportedly was told by his daughter that she knew her ex-husband was going to kill her.
Randy Powell believes his daughter’s murder was for Dr. Beallis’s financial gain, and that is why he filed for the divorce dismissal. If Dr. Beallis is granted the dismissal, he would get all that Charity won in the divorce.
Randy Powell is facing a mixture of emotions over the deaths.
“One moment I’ll be crying, and the next minute I’m mad. I don’t even know how to explain it,” Powell said. “I never expected to ever have to go through something like this in my life.”
Both Randy Powell and Charity’s older son, John Powell, 24, expressed the love Charity had for her children and knew that she fought.
“My mother fought for nine months, the last nine months, to save her life and those babies, and nothing happened,” John Powell said. “Now all three of them are dead.”
