Actress doubles down on Charlie Kirk comments
Actress Amanda Seyfried has doubled down on her assessment of the late Charlie Kirk as “hateful”, as the accused killer of the conservative activist faces court for the first time.
The Oscar-nominated actress, who has starred in movies including Mean Girls, Mamma Mia, Les Miserables, The Housemaid, and The Testament of Ann Lee, originally commented on an Instagram post about Kirk on September 14, several days after his death.

“He was filled with hate,” she expressed.

“I’m not going to apologize for saying that. Honestly, I made a single comment,” she continued.

“What I mentioned was grounded in real events, backed by footage and direct quotes. It was quite factual, and I’m entitled to my opinion, naturally.”

The controversial post highlighted various statements by Kirk, whose opinions on feminism, racial minorities, immigration, gun rights, and LGBTQ+ issues have made him a favorite among the far-right.

Following his alleged assassination during a public speaking engagement at Utah Valley University on September 10, his admirers, including US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, have hailed him as a symbol of free speech and Christian values.

Conversely, individuals who have criticized Kirk’s remarks are facing an intense online backlash, resulting in job terminations and even visa cancellations.

Following her original post, Seyfried took to Instagram again to explain her position.

“I can get angry about misogyny and racist rhetoric and also very much agree that Charlie Kirk’s murder was absolutely disturbing and deplorable in every way imaginable,” she wrote.

“No one should have to experience this level of violence. This country is grieving too many senseless and violent deaths and shootings. Can we agree on that at least?”

Her comments were published as Kirk’s accused killer, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, faced a Utah court for the first time.

Robinson has been charged with aggravated murder and felony use of a firearm, as well as obstruction of justice, witness tampering, and commission of a violent offence in the presence of a child.

He has not yet entered a plea to the charges.
