David Harbour nabs stranger’s hat in bizarre incident at California bar

David Harbour, the renowned star of “Stranger Things,” found himself at the center of an unusual incident at a Southern California bar over the weekend. The actor, known for his compelling performances, reportedly took a stranger’s hat during a night out at the Encinitas Ale House near San Diego.

According to an eyewitness account shared with TMZ, the incident unfolded after a man approached Harbour, a two-time Emmy nominee, and his friend at the bar. The friend informed the newcomer that they were waiting to meet some women. Harbour, however, made an unexpected suggestion, saying, “No, let’s go to this guy’s house.”

The man’s reaction was one of discomfort, prompting him to leave Harbour and his companion alone. Following this, Harbour made his way into the bar, where he took the man’s hat and dashed off with it. The actor then threw the hat to the ground, engaged bar patrons with questions about the Iraq War, and even kneeled down to pray, as reported by TMZ.

Footage reviewed by TMZ captured the moment Harbour took the hat, provocatively challenging its owner with, “C’mon, dude, f–king get me.” The man responded to the taunt and pursued Harbour.

The encounter drew attention from other bar-goers, with one woman pleading for calm, urging the men to avoid a confrontation. Fortunately, her concerns were heeded, as the situation, while odd, did not escalate into violence.

As of now, representatives for David Harbour have yet to respond to requests for comment from the Daily News regarding the peculiar episode.

An insider told TMZ he surmised the interaction may have stemmed in part from recent “public scrutiny” of his personal life.

In October, Harbour’s estranged wife Lily Allen released her album, “West End Girl,” which is chock-full of nods to his alleged infidelity.

Within weeks, “Stranger Things” producers had to respond to reports that star Millie Bobby Brown had accused Harbour of bullying and harassment. However, later that month, 21-year-old Brown told Deadline she felt “safe” working with Harbour and “everyone on that set.”
