PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Authorities in New England have pinpointed a suspect in the shooting incident at Brown University and are investigating potential connections to the murder of a distinguished nuclear scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, located approximately 50 miles away, as per information obtained by Fox News.

The suspect is currently on the run.

Earlier this week, Ted Docks, the special agent in charge of FBI Boston, informed the media that while investigators are exchanging intelligence between the two cases, they have yet to uncover a definitive link.

Reports from both Providence, Rhode Island, and Brookline, Massachusetts, have mentioned the presence of Nissan Sentras at the respective crime scenes, although the vehicles reportedly had license plates from different states.

The investigation involves the victims from Brown University, Ella Cook and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, and MIT professor Nuno Loureiro, who was fatally shot in a separate incident. These individuals are depicted in a composite image sourced from social media and fundraising platforms.

On Thursday, WPRI-TV, a regional CBS affiliate, reported that senior law enforcement officials have found evidence suggesting a connection between the cases. However, the specifics of this evidence remain undisclosed.

A masked gunman barged into a lecture hall at Brown University in Providence around 4 p.m. Saturday and killed two students, injuring nine more. Authorities said they recovered 9mm bullet casings from the scene.

He was last seen Saturday a few minutes later on surveillance video in the neighborhood east of Brown’s campus.

Then around 8:30 p.m. Monday, Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor Nuno F. Gomes Loureiro, 47, was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds in his apartment in Brookline, a short drive from campus. He was pronounced dead at a hospital the following morning.
