NAS Jacksonville sailor arrested after two women killed at Clay County home

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office has reported the arrest of Taylor Lomax, a sailor stationed at NAS Jax, in connection with the fatal shooting of his roommates on Wednesday evening.

In CLAY COUNTY, Fla., authorities have taken a Navy sailor into custody after the tragic discovery of two women shot dead at a residence in the Oakleaf Plantation vicinity. This information comes from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

Following a shooting incident reported at a home on Hanging Moss Drive, 22-year-old Taylor Lomax was arrested by deputies, according to the sheriff’s office. The incident took place on Wednesday night.

The arrest report details that the two victims, Jordyn Forrestier, 20, and Noely Makenda, 21, were found deceased in the front yard, each suffering from multiple gunshot injuries.

A First Coast News team on the scene observed at least two bullet holes in the front door of the house.

According to the CCSO, Lomax and the victims were all Navy personnel living together in the residence. Naval Air Station Jacksonville has confirmed that Petty Officer 3rd Class Taylor Lomax was part of the Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron in Jacksonville. They also stated that the Navy is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation. The two victims were also members of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadrons, as confirmed by NAS Jacksonville.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the Sailors’ families, friends, and shipmates during this difficult time.”, a spokesperson for NAS Jacksonville told First Coast News.

The incident happened after Lomax’s wife came to the home to visit him and began arguing with the roommates, according to CCSO. The fight escalated, becoming physical in the front yard. CCSO said that during the fight, Lomax grabbed his handgun and shot approximately 30 times, killing both women.

His wife made the call to 911, and Lomax was taken into custody at the scene. The wife was released after being interviewed.

As of Thursday, Lomax is being held in the Clay County jail for two counts of second-degree murder.
