    MELBOURNE, Fla. – Authorities in Melbourne are currently probing a deadly accident that occurred over the weekend and are appealing to the community for assistance.

    The incident took place on Saturday afternoon near the intersection of Strawbridge Avenue and Pine Street, just east of Babcock Street.

    According to police reports, a gray Dodge Charger was traveling at high speed down Strawbridge Avenue when it collided with a concrete pole and a metal chain link fence, eventually coming to a halt beside a retention pond. The driver was discovered deceased inside the vehicle.

    The individual behind the wheel has been identified as 37-year-old Christa M. Ryder from Palm Bay.

    Officials urge anyone with information related to the crash to reach out to Melbourne Police Officer Koubek by calling 321-616-5033, or contact Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477).
