More holiday bark sold at Aldi recalled over undeclared allergens

Recent developments have led to an expanded recall of certain products sold across the nation due to the discovery of undeclared pecans and wheat in mislabeled packaging.

WASHINGTON — The Food and Drug Administration has announced that Silvestri Sweets Inc. is broadening its voluntary recall of specific holiday candy items available at Aldi stores nationwide. This decision comes as a precaution against potential allergic reactions from undeclared allergens.

The company, based in Geneva, Illinois, has identified that its 5-ounce bags of Choceur-branded Holiday Bark might contain allergens not specified on the packaging. The Cookie Butter Holiday Bark could have undeclared pecans, while the Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon Holiday Bark might include undisclosed wheat. For those with allergies to pecans or wheat, ingesting these products could result in severe or potentially life-threatening reactions.

This recall now covers additional lot numbers and “best by” dates that were not included in the initial recall issued in late November. The products in question were distributed nationwide via Aldi grocery stores.

As of now, there have been no reports of illnesses associated with these products.

The recalled Cookie Butter Holiday Bark is packaged in 5-ounce Choceur stand-up pouch bags, identifiable by the following lot numbers and dates:

  • Lot 28525, Best By 05/2026

  • Lot 29925, Best By 05/2026

  • Lot 30625, Best By 06/2026

The recalled Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon Holiday Bark is sold in 5-ounce Choceur stand-up pouch bags with these lot numbers and dates:

  • Lot 28525, Best By 08/2026

  • Lot 29925, Best By 08/2026

  • Lot 30625, Best By 09/2026

The company said the expanded recall was initiated after it was discovered that Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon Holiday Bark had been packaged in Cookie Butter Holiday Bark packaging, resulting in undeclared allergens. An investigation found the issue may have been caused by a temporary breakdown in the production and packaging process.

Customers who purchased the recalled products should not eat them and are urged to get rid of the items.
