Alabama Boy Missing Since Wednesday Morning; Dad Arrested on Explosives Charges

On Friday morning, a large group of searchers resumed their efforts in rural Alabama to find a 4-year-old boy who has been missing since Wednesday morning.

According to Walker County Sheriff Nick Smith, the boy, Johnathan Everett Boley, was last seen by his 6-year-old brother around 11:30 a.m. The older sibling reported that Johnathan and a black Labrador retriever wandered past a fence line and vanished, as reported by the Tuscaloosa Thread.

Johnathan and his brother, who usually reside with their mother in Florida, were visiting their father for the holidays. They were scheduled to return to their mother on Thursday.

Sheriff Smith stated, “We’ve deployed significant resources, including aerial support, drones, volunteers, and ground teams with K-9 units,” but unfortunately, they have not yielded any results.

Smith added, “We’ve been searching for over 24 hours without any signs of the child being in the woods.”

The black Labrador retriever is also still missing.

What was found were explosives on the father’s property, and he was arrested. Jameson Kyle Boley, 40, was charged with unlawful manufacturing of a destructive device, Walker County Sheriff Nick Smith said Thursday, according to AL.com.

Smith said his office arrived on the scene about an hour and a half after the boy disappeared and found the explosives while on a search of the home. Neighbors reported hearing explosions from the property for weeks, but Smith said he couldn’t say if there was any connection with the missing boy.

The search of the house was suspended briefly while federal authorities made sure it was safe.

The missing boy is described was weighing about 50 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a yellow Mickey Mouse shirt, black pants, and Paw Patrol shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the sheriff’s office at 205-384-7218.
