An unsettling incident unfolded in Gainesville, Florida, leading to the arrest of 45-year-old Lekesha Marshuan Grant. She faces serious charges after allegedly targeting a senior citizen in a troubling vehicular assault. The case has drawn attention due to the nature of the allegations and the age of the victim involved.

According to reports, the events transpired on the morning of November 15, 2025, at Copeland Park, located at 7020 NE 27th Avenue. An Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy, present at the scene for an unrelated matter, was approached by a witness. The witness recounted seeing a woman, later identified as Grant, rear-end another vehicle and then swiftly leave the scene in a white Mazda SUV.

Efforts to locate the suspect were initially unsuccessful, but the situation escalated when the 71-year-old victim reached out to authorities. He identified Grant as the driver of the SUV. The victim detailed a heated confrontation in which Grant allegedly struck him in the face with her cell phone during an argument. The confrontation culminated with Grant allegedly backing her vehicle into his car while he was still inside.

Authorities, including officers from the Gainesville Police Department, attempted to track down Grant at her residence. Despite their efforts, Grant remained elusive. In a twist, she contacted the victim and requested to speak with the deputy, offering a convoluted account of the incident. She reportedly denied hitting the victim with her cell phone but admitted to trying, albeit claiming her height was a limitation. Initially denying the vehicular assault, Grant later conceded to having struck the victim’s vehicle, acknowledging damage to her taillight. However, she made it clear that she had no intention of voluntarily returning to face the authorities.

Given the gravity of the allegations, a sworn complaint was filed, charging Grant with battery on a victim over 65, aggravated battery on a victim over 65, and misdemeanor property damage. The legal proceedings progressed, resulting in a warrant for her arrest being issued on December 22. Judge Denise Ferrero set her bail at $27,000, leading to her eventual arrest on January 5. Grant’s legal history reveals a pattern of violence, with at least five convictions for battery or assault and numerous charges that were later dropped, dating back to 1998.

Grant’s full criminal history is unavailable, but she has at least five convictions on battery or assault charges, along with at least 11 dropped battery or assault charges dating back to 1998.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
