A tragic incident unfolded at a New Year’s Eve gathering in Minnesota, leading to a 26-year-old man facing charges for the fatal shooting of another attendee. The suspect, Myron Allen Johanson, reportedly wandered through the party, brandishing a firearm and questioning partygoers with the ominous phrase, “Do you trust me?”

The evening took a deadly turn when Johanson allegedly placed the loaded weapon under the chin of 22-year-old Jorden Jonathan Boehm, resulting in Boehm’s death. According to a probable cause affidavit, witnesses recounted Johanson’s unsettling behavior: approaching Boehm, posing the same question, and subsequently discharging the firearm. Those present witnessed Boehm bleeding from his neck, while Johanson reportedly reacted with shock, urging someone to call emergency services before retreating to his room with the gun.

Myron Johanson Affidavit by kc wildmoon

The affidavit notes that around ten guests had been invited to the party, where the atmosphere was reportedly amiable until Johanson’s actions disrupted the peace. Guests observed him repeatedly drawing a black handgun from its holster and aiming it at others during the night. One witness described an unsettling moment when Johanson pointed the weapon at another individual’s face, prompting that person to push it away. Another guest recalled Johanson’s erratic behavior, including instances where he brandished the gun at himself and others, asking the provocative question, “Do you trust me?” The response he received was a firm, “F*** no, I don’t.”

The probable cause statement says that about 10 “invited guests” were at the party and the “everyone was getting along and having a good time throughout the evening. Except, they also noted, that Johanson was carrying a black handgun in a holster and was constantly taking it out and pointing at other guests throughout the evening.

“One witness stated that she watched the Defendant point the gun into the face of another and watched that person push the gun out of his face,” the document says. “Another witness stated that the Defendant was walking around pointing his handgun at people during the evening, including twice at himself. He stated that the Defendant walked up to him, dropped the magazine and pointed the gun at the top of his head and asked him ‘do you trust me’, which he responded ‘f*** no, I don’t.’”

Johanson laughed at him, pushed the magazine back in, and racked a round into the chamber just before walking up to Boehm.

The killer told police that the gun “went off” and that he cleared it and took it into his room, then called 911. He took officers into the bedroom and pointed out the gun, which was collected by the deputies.

Johanson has been charged with third degree murder and second degree manslaughter.
