Chicago shootings this weekend: At least 10 shot, 2 fatally, in gun violence across city, police department says

Tragedy has struck on Chicago’s West Side as a woman succumbed to injuries sustained in a hit-and-run incident last month. The collision, which has left a family in mourning, unfolded in the early hours of December 17th.

According to the Chicago Police Department, the incident took place around 1:39 a.m. on the 3900 block of West 5th Avenue, near Pulaski. It was there that officers were alerted to the distressing scene by a concerned individual who noticed the victim lying in the street.

The woman, 40, was discovered in a critical state and was quickly transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, she ultimately passed away due to the severity of her injuries.

In the wake of this tragic event, the victim’s daughter has reached out to ABC7, sharing her story and appealing for assistance in bringing those responsible to justice. A reward is being offered for any information that might lead to answers in this heart-wrenching case.

As the community grapples with the impact of this loss, authorities continue to seek leads that could shed light on the identity of the perpetrator, urging anyone with information to come forward. The search for justice for the bereaved family remains a priority as they navigate this difficult time.

Officers found the woman, who was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where she was initially listed in critical condition. She later died from her injuries.

The victim’s daughter, Hali Stapleton, spoke to ABC7 and identified her as Samantha Bragg. Her family is still seeking justice nearly one month after the crash.

“It was all just a big shock, and how could somebody do that,” Stapleton said. ” We don’t even know how long she was laying in the road.”

Cook County Crimestoppers is offering a reward of $1,000 for information in the hit-and-run that killed Bragg.

No one is in custody and the Major Accidents Unit is investigating.
