GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Alachua County Sheriff Chad Scott has addressed the recent decision by the Alachua County Commission, which voted to request that he cease the practice of posting mugshots on social media. For a detailed account of the motion, you can refer to our previous article.

In his response, Sheriff Scott neither pledged to comply with the commission’s request nor rejected it outright. Instead, he emphasized the importance of transparency: “Despite our varied beliefs, values, and perspectives, cultivating trust is essential for ensuring our community’s safety and well-being. Transparency is the foundation of trust, which in turn strengthens relationships, fosters a sense of community, and represents unity.”

He expressed his intention to engage in dialogue with the County Commissioners about the concerns raised during the board meeting. His aim is to work collaboratively, both on an individual and collective level, to provide exceptional service to the community.

Sheriff Scott concluded by reaffirming his dedication to transparency through the careful dissemination of public information. He stated, “You have the right to be informed and involved in maintaining Alachua County’s safety, and together, we will continue striving towards that goal.”
