Family to resume search lakefront for missing Chicago Public Schools teacher Linda Brown

CHICAGO (WLS) — The search for Linda Brown, a missing Chicago Public Schools teacher, is set to intensify as family and friends gather Friday morning to continue their efforts. A key area of focus will be 31st Street Beach, with the search extending along the shoreline.

This renewed effort follows the discovery of Brown’s car in the vicinity. Surveillance footage has surfaced, showing her leaving the vehicle and not returning, raising concerns for her safety. The 53-year-old special education teacher was last seen in a video walking alone over a pedestrian bridge near 35th and Lake Park Avenue, leading toward the lakefront. This footage, captured at 3 a.m. on Saturday, is yet to be released to the public.

Brown’s disappearance over the weekend has left her family deeply worried. Her husband recounted waking up to find that she was gone, prompting an urgent search for any clues that might lead to her whereabouts.

The family says there’s video footage of the 53-year-old special education teacher walking over a pedestrian bridge near 35th and Lake Park Avenue that leads to the lakefront. The video has not been made public.

They said she is alone in the footage, which is from 3 a.m. Saturday.

Brown disappeared last weekend. Her husband says when he woke up and she was gone.

The educator’s car was found on Wednesday near 35th and Lake Park Avenue, but she still remains missing.

Her brother-in-law said it’s possible she’s still on foot and it’s important for the public to continue to look for her.

Chicago police said the woman was last seen on Saturday in the 4500- block of South King Drive not far from where she lives.

Family and friends continue to circulate flyers with Brown’s photo online and throughout the Chicago area.

Chicago police are asking anyone with any information about the whereabouts of Linda Brown to reach out to them. Meanwhile, family and friends intend to start their search.
