Authorities in South Carolina are on the hunt for the individual responsible for a tragic incident in Spartanburg County, where a 31-year-old mother lost her life after being struck and dragged by a vehicle in a parking lot.
The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene on the morning of January 7, where they discovered Dané Josephine Waddell had been fatally injured.
“We have gathered evidence indicating she was run over and dragged by a vehicle,” stated Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger to the Post and Courier.
Detectives have managed to identify the model of the car involved through surveillance footage, yet the vehicle remains unlocated, and specific details about the car have not been disclosed, as reported by WHNS, who did not inquire about a description.
Waddell’s family shared that she had recently given birth to her first child, a daughter, in October. Her aunt, Sheina Waddell, has urged the driver to surrender to authorities.
“How would they feel if something like this happened to their own family?” she questioned in her conversation with the Post and Courier. “Would they not wish for the driver to come forward to provide peace of mind and justice for the family?”
