Passengers baffled and confused after screams burst from beneath taxiing Air Canada plane

Last month, passengers aboard a taxiing aircraft faced a startling moment when chilling screams unexpectedly resonated from below the cabin just before takeoff. The unsettling incident left many on board anxious and confused.

The unusual event unfolded on December 13th, when Air Canada Flight 1502 was preparing to depart from Toronto Pearson Airport, bound for Moncton, New Brunswick. As reported by local station CBC, the chaos began when a ground crew member found himself inadvertently trapped inside the plane’s cargo hold after the doors unexpectedly closed on him.

The Airbus flight, which had 184 passengers ready for travel, was subsequently canceled due to this alarming occurrence. As the aircraft was making its way to the runway, it abruptly came to a halt, averting what could have been a more serious situation.

Fortunately, the trapped crew member managed to safely exit the cargo hold shortly thereafter. He entered the cabin, much to the relief of the apprehensive passengers, and assured everyone that he was unharmed, calming the tense atmosphere.

This incident, while unnerving, ended without injury, leaving many grateful for the quick resolution and the safety measures in place that prevented any harm. The airline will likely be reviewing procedures to prevent such incidents in the future.

The aircraft reportedly halted before reaching the runway. Moments later, the trapped ground crew member emerged safely from the cargo and entered the cabin, reassuring shaken passengers that he was unharmed, Caron reported.

Air Canada confirmed to CBC that no injuries were reported in the incident.

Caron added that the crew member involved was reportedly assisting ground staff by loading items as an extra set of hands and may have been left unaccounted for when the doors closed.

The plane eventually returned to the terminal, where passengers were asked to disembark while the flight crew completed necessary paperwork, CBC reported.

The flight was ultimately canceled after several delays, the outlet said.
