GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A 19-year-old named Jacob (also known as Jordan) Ramon Gonzalez was taken into custody in the early hours today, facing charges of child abuse after allegedly assaulting a young male near West University Avenue.
Just before 1 a.m. on January 17, officers from the Gainesville Police Department were on patrol along the 1700 block of West University Avenue when they noticed Gonzalez chasing and engaging in a physical altercation with a juvenile.
The young victim claimed that Gonzalez approached him without provocation and began to shove and strike him, even breaking a chain he had around his neck.
Gonzalez reportedly claimed he had been knocked unconscious and had no recollection of the incident. However, the officers observed that Gonzalez was combative and had remained conscious throughout their interaction.
According to two witnesses, Gonzalez approached the victim, making comments about his TikTok content before repeatedly punching the victim in the face, as the victim attempted to retreat and defend himself.
An officer noted that both Gonzalez and the victim had bloody lips, and the victim had blood on his clothing.
Gonzalez has been charged with child abuse without great bodily harm. He has no local criminal convictions; a recent misdemeanor battery case (2026) is listed on the court website, but no details are available. Judge Sean Brewer set bail at $1,000.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
