Australian Border Force officers intercepted a 60-year-old man at Sydney Airport following his arrival on a flight from Cambodia yesterday, leading to a thorough examination of his luggage.
Upon the arrival of Australian Federal Police (AFP) officers, the man’s phone was scrutinized, allegedly revealing child abuse material along with explicit conversations involving minors.
Authorities also discovered a laptop, tablet, and USB drive in the man’s possession, all of which were confiscated for comprehensive forensic analysis.
Subsequent investigations prompted a search warrant at a residence in Leichhardt, where additional electronic devices were subjected to forensic scrutiny.
The individual faces charges including possession or control of child abuse material obtained via a carriage service, intentional importation of prohibited tier two goods without approval, and two counts of using a carriage service to distribute child abuse material.
