ORLANDO, Fla. – This Friday, Jason Revoldt is set to be officially inaugurated as Orlando’s 22nd fire chief in a ceremony that marks a significant milestone for the city.

Revoldt steps into the role with an impressive career spanning over 20 years. His extensive experience includes key positions such as arson/bomb commander, deputy chief of the Life Safety Bureau, fire marshal, and interim fire chief, as detailed by city officials.

In a unique twist, Revoldt will also be Orlando’s first fire chief to hold dual responsibilities as a sworn law enforcement officer, according to a city press release.

“With nearly 24 years of dedicated service, Chief Revoldt is poised to lead the Orlando Fire Department (OFD) into its future, while proudly upholding its traditions in public service, emergency medical response, fire prevention, and community safety,” the city stated.

The city’s announcement highlights Revoldt’s commendable achievements, including earning the Class IV Meritorious Award for rescuing a near-drowning victim. He is also recognized for his success in solving numerous arson cases with his late K9 partner, Nessie, his role in establishing the Orlando Fire Department’s Youth Fire Setters Program, and his participation in the Orlando Firefighters Pipes and Drums band.

Revoldt is further credited for overseeing the construction of Fire Station 6, the development of temporary Fire Station 19, and the design of Fire Station 18 while deputy chief of the Life Safety Bureau, the city said.

He will be sworn in during a ceremony that begins at 10:30 a.m., joined by Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, city commissioners, OFD leadership, firefighters, and community members, the release states.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
