While the parking facility remains operational, access to the third level has been restricted.

The Chicago Fire Department has yet to confirm the exact number of victims involved in the incident.

In a separate incident nearby, at around 1:20 p.m. in the 2300-block of West Roosevelt Road, three men in a vehicle were reportedly approached by three armed male suspects, according to Chicago Police Department reports.

They fired shots into the vehicle, police said.

During the shooting, the vehicle caught fire, CPD said.

A 44-year-old man was shot and taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition, police said.

Chopper 7 was over the scene in a Tri-Taylor White Castle parking lot about 3 p.m.

Police tape blocked off the parking lot of the restaurant, located at 2356 Roosevelt Road.

A vehicle in the parking lot appeared to be charred, and its windows were shattered.

UIC students and staff were asked to stay away from campus amid the police activity Tuesday.

UIC officials said no threat exists to the campus as of about 3 p.m.

Those on campus are asked to follow instructions from officials, and those off campus are asked to stay away.

Some roads appeared to be closed near the campus and around the White Castle.

No. 12 Roosevelt CTA buses are temporarily rerouted in both directions due to police activity near Roosevelt Road and Western Avenue in the area.

Westbound buses will operate via Roosevelt, Damen, Taylor, Western, then resume their normal route on Roosevelt.

Eastbound buses will operate via Roosevelt, Western, Taylor, Ogden, then resume normal route.

It’s not immediately clear if the shootings are connected.
