It's Official: TrumpRx Makes Direct-to-Consumer Prescription Drug Pricing a Thing

In a bold move to make prescription drugs more accessible, President Donald Trump, along with Dr. Mehmet Oz, the CMS Administrator, and Joe Gebbia, Airbnb co-founder and the Chief Design Officer of the United States, unveiled a new direct-to-consumer platform named TrumpRX.gov. This initiative aims to revolutionize how Americans purchase their medications by offering them at significantly reduced prices.

In related news, President Trump recently signed an Executive Order for the ‘Great American Recovery Initiative’ alongside HHS Secretary Kennedy and Kathryn Burgum, further emphasizing his administration’s commitment to healthcare improvements.

To witness the launch and learn more about its implications, WATCH the full coverage of the event.

For years, politicians from both parties have promised to bring down prescription drug prices and make healthcare more affordable. But they all failed. It was all words, as usual. They failed, and they failed badly. They tried doing this. some of them, most of them didn’t even try, because they never really had a shot at it. But I’m actually getting it done. And It is done, actually.

This launch represents the largest reduction in prescription drug prices in history by many, many times. And it’s not even close, you’re going to see numbers that you’re not going to believe.

Always excited to test drive a new website, I typed in the URL and dived in. As opposed to the “Healthcare.gov” website launch under President Barack Obama, the fact that the “TrumpRX.gov” page actually loaded is already a huge win.

In a cursory search for the term “Diabetes,” the site quickly brought up popular GLP-1 weight loss drugs like Monjauro, Ozempic, and Wegovy. The listed prices were 10 percent or less of the normally listed retail prices. Trump discussed the benefits of TrumpRX.gov for the most popular pharmaceuticals.

Trump also confirmed that 16 of the 17 largest pharmaceutical companies were on board with this endeavor, including Eli Lilly and AstraZeneca.

“It’s the biggest thing to happen in many, many decades,” Trump said, signaling that the TrumpRX.gov initiative was part of ushering a return of drug manufacturing back to the United States. Eli Lilly is on board to build six new plants.

Trump then introduced Joe Gebbia, who demonstrated the functionality and ease of use of the website. The website presented a very clean interface with a dynamic search that a customer can perform using terms such as the particular ailment or disease, or by simply searching by the drug name. Gebbia also showed how the site gives a coupon credit that can be printed out or electronically transferred to a smartphone wallet. Gebbia said the website has over 40 of the more commonly-used medications, and that they plan to add drugs week-after-week, as more partnerships and agreements with pharmaceutical companies are cemented.

Infertility drugs are a part of those heavily discounted pharmaceuticals, and Dr. Oz, who stood beside Gebbia during his demonstration of the site, interjected, “We’re gonna have a lot of Trump babies with these costs.”

WATCH

The TrumpRX concept was first announced in September of 2025.

The president first teased TrumpRx in September while announcing the first of his more than 15 deals with pharmaceutical companies to lower drug prices to match the lowest price offered in other developed nations. He said in December the website would provide “massive discounts to all consumers” — though it’s unclear whether the prices available on drugmakers’ websites will routinely be any lower than what many consumers could get through their insurance coverage.

Now consumers no longer have to imagine bypassing insurance co-pays or shifting prices dictated by Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs).

TrumpRx targets people who are willing to pay with cash and forgo insurance, which suggests that people without or with limited coverage may benefit the most.

The site is not expected to sell drugs directly to American patients, but will act as a central hub that points them to drugmakers that are offering discounts on certain products on their own direct-to-consumer sites.

Huge win for America!   President @realDonaldTrump just launched TrumpRx today, slashing prescription drug costs.

Pfizer’s dropping prices via MFN deals, investing $70B in US manufacturing, and a new govt site lets us buy meds direct—cheaper than ever!

Thanks to President @realDonaldTrump & @SecKennedy for putting people first and cutting out the middle man.

This is Making America Healthy Again!

However, much of the initial reporting leans toward the risk rather than the benefit of purchasing direct from the pharmaceutical giants. Being chained to the Ponzi scheme of insurance is never a win, otherwise lawmakers would not be screeching and clutching their pearls over the expired enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies. Removing the gatekeepers so that consumers have the opportunity to price compare and get the right pharmaceuticals that fit their budget is what freedom of choice should be about.

In recent months, both companies and at least 14 other drugmakers have negotiated agreements with the Trump administration to participate on the platform and voluntarily sell certain medicines at a discount to Medicaid patients. Those landmark deals are part of Trump’s broader “most favored nation” policy, which pushes to link U.S. drug prices to the lowest ones abroad.

It is the government’s latest effort to try to rein in U.S. prescription drug prices, which are two to three times higher on average than those in other developed nations — and up to 10 times more than in certain countries, according to the Rand Corp., a public policy think tank.

By any stretch of the imagination, this move to wrest the power out of the hands of insurance companies and PBMs is a game-changer. As Trump said in his remarks, politicians have claimed for decades that they would reduce prescription drug prices, and none of them have ever attempted or succeeded. The coming months will tell the tale of how much of a win this will be, not just for the Trump administration, but for the American consumer.

Editor’s Note: Thanks to President Trump’s leadership and bold policies, like favored-nations drug pricing through TrumpRx, affordability is in reach for everyday Americans.
