VIDEO: Suspect Cries Over Missing ‘Grand Theft Auto 6’ as He’s Arrested for Killing Girlfriend

An English court handed down a life sentence on Friday to a man found guilty of murdering his girlfriend last year.

On May 30, 2025, Robert Richens, 35, contacted police from his residence in Oxford, confessing to the killing of 40-year-old Rachael Vaughan. According to Thames Valley Police, Richens did not make the call in a bid to seek help for Vaughan but rather because he felt he had “nowhere else to turn,” as reported by the BBC.

During the 911 call, Richens admitted, “We had an argument. I think I just blacked out. I’m going to go to prison for life for this, aren’t I? I’m going to prison, 100 percent, aren’t I?” his words echoing through the recording, as referenced by the Oxford Mail.

Video footage from his arrest last year revealed Richens in tears—not over Vaughan’s death, but over his impending inability to play “GTA,” or “Grand Theft Auto VI,” a highly anticipated video game plagued by numerous delays.

An officer in the footage questions Richens, “Which GTA? What are you talking about, Robert?” prompting him to elaborate on the video game woes.

In a seemingly ironic remark, an officer tells Richens, “you have ages for that,” alluding to the long wait gamers have faced for the release of “Grand Theft Auto VI.” Its predecessor, “Grand Theft Auto V,” hit the shelves back in 2013.

“I’m gonna get life,” Richens says in the bodycam footage, which was played in court.

Investigating officer Det Ch Insp Stuart May decried Richens as “heartless” and said his life sentence means he will “now face the consequences of his merciless actions.”

“My thoughts remain with Rachael Vaughan’s family and with everyone who loved her as they continue to face what is an unimaginable loss,” he also said.
