A college student in the South drew widespread criticism after appearing to celebrate Charlie Kirk’s assassination in a profane rant and telling conservative speaker Christian Collins he was “brave” to appear without covering his neck.
The unidentified woman approached the microphone at Collins’ “Prove Me Wrong/Pick Up the Mic” event on September 23 at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).
Like Kirk, Collins is a prominent conservative activist involved with Turning Point USA’s campus initiative. He also heads the Texas Youth Summit and previously ran for Congress in Texas.
On Wednesday, Collins posted video of the exchange. The student introduced herself as “pamper baby” before reading a poem she had written that appeared to mock Kirk’s death.
Kirk was fatally shot in the neck while speaking at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025. Tyler Robinson, 22, has been charged in connection with the shooting and is awaiting trial.
The glasses-wearing student began by telling Collins she had prepared a poem about Kirk’s assassination. Her reading mimicked Clement Clarke Moore’s well-known Christmas poem, “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.”
After finishing, she told Collins, who appeared visibly unimpressed: “You’re brave for being out here. I mean, no protection, no nothing—no, like, neck brace.”
In response to the remark, Collins calmly said: “I’ll pray for you.”

Before addressing Collins directly, the woman read the poem from her phone.
“So, I took a Plan B, and I’m an immigrant this morning—like, feeling kind of guilty—so I wanted to read a poem that I actually wrote,” she began.
Collins asked whether she had a question for him, but she replied that she simply wanted to read the poem because she had “freedom of speech.”
“’Twas the night before the Kirkaversary, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
“The flags were hung proudly, the memes all on deck, as we solemnly remembered a shot to the neck,” she said while glancing down at her phone.
A small group of attendees cheered as Collins leaned back in his chair, maintaining a straight face.
“The podcast fell silent, the hot takes grew weary, for tomorrow, dear friends, is the great Kirkaversary,” she continued before ending the poem.
The student then turned toward the audience and added: “So I’ll see everyone at the squirt for Kirk. We’re hosting that also on October 10. I’ll see y’all there.”

The exchange quickly fueled controversy, with numerous commenters condemning the student’s remarks
“It’s a BYOE, you know—vaccines included. S***’s free. See y’all there. That’s all,” she said before turning to Collins with a smile.
“Are you happy with yourself now?” Collins asked.
“Baby, I’m thrilled,” she replied before repeating her remarks about his neck.
Collins described the encounter in a post caption, writing: “At @utsa for Pick Up the Mic, a student read a poem celebrating the assassination of Charlie Kirk with such glee, then told me I was brave to be out here without my neck covered.
“I told her I’d pray for her. This is the climate. We pick up the mic anyway.”
The video prompted a wave of online reaction, with commenters expressing anger over the student’s statements.
Political commentator Meghan McCain criticized the student, describing her as “so poisoned.”

“I don’t know how we combat this. This young woman is so poisoned, so vile, filled with so much evil and hate,” McCain wrote.
“I hope the internet makes her famous and every job application she applies for sees this video and what kind of person she is,” she added on X.
“She has no soul. There is nothing fixing that,” one commenter wrote.
Libs of TikTok, a far-right social media account, also condemned the student’s comments.
“It’s a death cult. I don’t want to share a country with these evil freaks. The left wants us all dead. Vote like your life depends on it,” the account posted, referring to the upcoming midterm elections.
Riley Gaines, another conservative activist, also voiced her disapproval
Riley Gaines, another conservative activist, likewise criticized the incident.
“The fact that other students cheered for her after she finished her poem about an assassination is sickening,” Gaines wrote.
