White House Border Czar Tom Homan, at the helm of immigration and deportation efforts in Minneapolis, made a significant announcement during a press briefing on Thursday morning: the conclusion of Operation Metro Surge. This initiative, launched under the guidance of President Trump, aimed to tackle immigration issues in the sanctuary city.

Homan stated, “I have proposed, and President Trump has agreed, that this surge operation should conclude.” He noted that a reduction in operations had already begun and would continue to scale down over the coming week. The decision to end the operation, he explained, was driven by the “unprecedented levels of coordination we have obtained from state officials and local law enforcement.”

He further mentioned that there had been a “notable decrease in unlawful agitator activity” throughout the state recently, with over 200 individuals arrested for various infractions.

Operation Metro Surge was initiated by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in early December.
